CLLR DANNY THORPE

Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Chair of Cabinet

Councillor Thorpe has been a Councillor in the Royal Borough of Greenwich since July 2004. He represents the Shooters Hill ward and was appointed to the Royal Borough’s Cabinet as Lead Member for Regeneration and Transport in 2014. Councillor Thorpe became Deputy Leader of the Council in 2016 and held the Cabinet portfolio for Regeneration and Sustainability.

VERONICA SIMPSON

Journalist

Veronica Simpson has nearly three decades’ experience of seeking out and writing up the most interesting cultural, social and aesthetic evolutions in design, architecture and art. With a masters in Environmental. Psychology, she puts the human experience first, and aims to uncover and articulate the mechanisms by which design /art
/architecture can make a difference.

MARTYN EVANS

Creative director - U+I

Martyn Evans has been Creative Director at U+I, the mixed-use regeneration developer, since the late 1990s - at Cathedral Group before it merged with Development Securities in 2015 to form U+I, developers of large, complex regeneration schemes on dead, post-industrial land in London, Manchester and Dublin.

STEPHEN HAYNES

Strategic Director - Economy, Policy and New Homes at London Borough of Hackney

In charge of the Inclusive Economy, Corporate Policy and New Homes group, which brings together the corporate strategy and policymaking functions of the organisation with New Homes Policy and Delivery, Employment, Skills and Adult Learning, and a new Capital Programmes function.

Director - Community Led Housing London

Lev is director of Community led housing London, a resource and advice hub supporting community groups at the early stages of their projects and working with boroughs and others to create opportunities for community led housing.

CLLR ANTHONY OKEREKE

Cabinet Member for Housing

Anthony serves as a Labour Councillor and the Cabinet Member responsible for Housing at the Royal Borough of Greenwich. As the Borough’s strategic lead for housing, he holds the overall responsibility for establishing plans and strategies to develop and manage council homes, and to tackle and prevent homelessness. Anthony holds a BSc in Civil Engineering, and is currently reading an MA in Urban and Regional Planning. He is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, and he aims to combine his appreciation of politics with his knowledge of the built environment.

JESSICA BARKER

Director - Stolon Studio

Jessica Barker co-founded Stolon Studio, and specialises in research-led design of housing with shared spaces. She comes from a healthcare background and is a RIBA chartered architect with nearly 20 years of practice experience.
